How to get beautiful African violets - Soil
The commercial African violet potting soil are well suited for growing this plant. If you prefer to make your own compost, it is important to remember that it should be light and very airy.
Here's a mix that you can use:
- A portion of sand.
- Part of perlite.
- Two parts vermiculite.
- Three parts peat moss.
- Three parts of black soil.
- A little bone meal for the supply of organic phosphorus.
- Some horticultural lime to balance the pH.
This mixture should be sterilized in the oven at 90 degrees Celsius for half an hour.
