It is very important to obtain a good travel insurance before leaving the country. Never go traveling abroad without being insured. Get a travel insurance with the best coverage for your needs. Do not try to save on the cost of the  insurance at the expense of the coverage. Opt for a higher deductible to save on the cost of the insurance premium. As for the passport and visa, make a copy of all pages of your travel insurance policy. Leave a copy to a friend or relative and bring the other one. You can also scan your insurance policy. Place the document in your folder  "Travel" on Google Drive or SkyDrive with your copy of passport and visa.
