Materials not to compost:

  • Meat and fish.

  • Bones.
  • Fat and oil.
  • Dairy products.
  • Ash.
  • BBQ briquettes.
  • Content of the vacuum bag.
  • Cat litter (It may contain pathogens).
  • Other human or animal feces (They can contain pathogens).
  • Rhubarb leaves (stems can be composted) The leaves of rhubarb contain oxalates, which are unstable salts of oxalic acid. They produce a highly toxic acid.
  • Oak and walnut. It contains a lot of tannic acids. It is best to put them under the trees.
